Chapter 43: Death To The Kimian Kats
Katherine, watching from above, was in utter disbelief. So much so she couldn’t help but say, "These children are monsters."
She couldn’t believe she had tried to give this team tips on how to kill the Kimian Kats.
"They had even developed their techniques already?" She paused, taking a look at the ground in front of Aiden that had gone black, then added, "And what the hell is that fire power?"
Aiden also had a grin on his face, staring at the aftermath of destruction he had caused with Dragon’s Roar.
However, that grin disappeared immediately when Kayden said, "Really? Your best attempt at showing off is breathing fire from your mouth? How pathetic."
He scoffed right after, but deep down, he had acknowledged Aiden’s magic power with that technique. And he hated that particular fact so much.
Aiden took one look at his roommate, shook his head, and whispered, "Such a twat."
Then he returned his focus to the new approaching wave of monsters.
He reactivated his Dragon’s Sight skill to get a much broader view of their numbers, and yes, they were all coming out now.
Kayden’s pace suddenly increased as he headed out in front of the team while charging up lightning energy between his palms.
"I’ll show you real power," he whispered to himself, then stretched both hands out toward the beasts.
"Raging Bolts!" he called out in a somber tone, and at that moment let out huge bolts of blue lightning from both hands that traveled through some of the monsters with overwhelming power.
This was twice the firepower and range that he had shown earlier. There was no way he was going to look lesser compared to Aiden.
Aiden had a grin on his face, seeing the young lord let loose like that. He sensed rivalry and for some reason didn’t want to lose to Kayden either.
He increased his own pace right behind Kayden’s attack, lunging his right clenched fist forward and releasing huge torrents of flames.
He swung his left fist in immediate succession, releasing another torrent of flames, and then following right behind that was a full swing of his right leg into a roundhouse kick that released even more flames in a larger range.
The others immediately followed behind them, providing support with their magic attacks.
Laela ensnared and drained them completely with her tree vines, and Arianna increased the sizes of her nail projectiles aimed at the beasts using her mass magic.
Katherine watched this go on with keen interest, totally forgetting she had to scout out for the dungeon lord.
In a few minutes, the academy mages had dealt with all the creatures.
With the exception of Aiden, the others were trying to catch their breath. They were breathing slightly faster than normal, especially given that they had consumed a decent amount of mana unleashing their magic attacks in an attempt to impress each other.
A rough count of the beasts they had just taken down would easily number about one hundred.
Now, Katherine stared down at the town left in wreckage in an attempt to find the final one left; the dungeon lord, seeing as she was certain they hadn’t killed it yet.
It was going to be much larger than the rest, stronger, faster, and smarter too. A common similarity with all dungeon lords.
Aiden knew this as well, given both his previous experience with a dungeon and the knowledge he had gathered about monsters.
However, it seemed that the last beast was probably hiding within one of the ruined buildings and wasn’t out like the rest of them.
This prompted him to use his Dragon’s Sight skill to scan the entire area.
That was when his teammates noticed the transformation his eyes had taken, especially as he looked intently toward the ruins of the town.
"The last one’s there," Aiden called out immediately while pointing in its direction.
He immediately chased after it, and the others followed right behind him.
"He found it?" Katherine said, wondering how that happened when she herself couldn’t, even with aerial advantage.
Aiden ran toward the beast, and as soon as he had sight of it, he swung his fist forward, releasing flames toward it.
However, the monster’s reaction was too fast. It sensed multiple humans coming toward it, and as soon as it saw Aiden, it pounced out through the window, thereby dodging the flames hurled at it.
Kayden instinctively went the other way in an attempt to surround it, rather than following behind Aiden again. Coincidentally, Arianna had the same idea.
The Team was now split in different directions.
Laela was some distance behind Aiden due to how much faster he moved, as they both continued in pursuit of the creature.
He and Laela had gone around a few of the buildings in pursuit while it weaved through corners.
Then suddenly the beast pounced out from its position and lunged for Laela with its fangs ready for the bite.
The elf didn’t see this coming and right at that moment, she faltered completely. The speed difference between the monster and Laela at that range was too much for the elf to react to.
Thankfully, Aiden’s Dragon Sight granted him an all-around vision of his surroundings within a certain range, and no movement could ever be too sudden.
Aiden, already in anticipation of its movement, used his Space Authority skill:
[Void Step]
He teleported instantaneously and appeared directly in front of the creature, sending his clenched fist from underneath the creature’s jaw.
The impact sent it flying backward while simultaneously scattering its body into different tiny parts.
[Fists of Destruction]
Laela had not completed a full eye blink when Aiden had appeared and saved her life.
Right at the moment when the beast was destroyed, Kayden and Arianna arrived, missing that teleportation incident by only a few seconds.
Laela had no words as she stared at Aiden with shock in her eyes. Katherine, who also watched from the skies, was sent into maddening disbelief at what her eyes had just witnessed.
