Chapter 40: Welcome to Ravens Grave

Chapter 40: Welcome to Ravens Grave

The next day had arrived, and the Academy mages were getting ready for their selective guild missions.

The new mages of Ravens Grave were already on their way toward their guild’s wing. They had coincidentally done so at the same time.

Arianna then led the way.

They were headed for the entrance leading into the guild’s main room, and when they got close, they could hear tremendous commotion coming from behind the door. In fact, glass might have just shattered.

The four of them looked at each other with puzzled expressions about what was going on, but they still had to approach. Arianna opened the door leading into the main room and stepped in alongside the others.

The first thing their eyes met was the sight of Katherine hurling a sizable frying pan that flew across the room to hit a plump mage in the head, knocking him out instantly.

The knocked-out mage’s eyes rolled back to white, and he foamed from his mouth.

"Elena!" Katherine yelled.

"Y-yes, Captain," said the timid little voice of a scared girl who stood some meters away from the furious captain.

"Heal that idiot," Katherine commanded while pointing to the unconscious mage’s body.

"Yes, Captain," Elena replied, immediately rushing over to the mage with her staff in hand as she cast a healing magic spell on him.

Elena was a petite-looking girl with blonde hair and pale skin.

As soon as she cast that spell, however, a notification screen popped up right in front of Aiden’s face.

[Supplementary Spell Copied: Goddess Embrace]

[Spell level: Advanced]

Aiden’s eyes widened for a second and contorted into a brief smile before he made the screens disappear.

Then Katherine’s wicked gaze turned to three other guys standing beside each other, gritting their teeth and shaking with absolute fear.

"Now which one of you idiots was also on kitchen duty?" she asked.

Two of the boys, without uttering a word, simply pointed their fingers at the guy in the middle.

Katherine’s lips curled into a smirk as she slowly walked toward them. The boys on both sides scampered away hurriedly, leaving their friend Rick in the middle to face his impending doom.

Rick, who had reached his limits and couldn’t handle any more pressure from the approaching guild captain, simply collapsed and fainted.

Katherine then stopped in her tracks, shook her head, and sighed before turning back to meet the utterly dazed new mages who were still watching from the entrance.

"Oh, hello, darlings," Katherine said with a facial expression that instantly contorted into a smile, as if she hadn’t just unleashed fury on the rest of her members.

She started walking toward them while gesturing for them to walk further into the room. "Come, come," she said.

The several other boys of the guild who noticed that their captain’s attention had successfully been diverted hurriedly left the guild’s main room for different parts of the guild’s wing.

She had been angry at them earlier for different reasons this morning, the most recent being that the kitchen was a mess and the boys on kitchen duty hadn’t cleaned it up. Bernard, the knocked-out fellow, was on kitchen duty. So was Rick.

"Oh, don’t mind all that, they needed some reminding to do their duties," Katherine said to the Academy mages, sounding rather sweet and downplaying how much violence she had displayed in the last five minutes.

However, it did nothing to help their unsettled faces.

"Ah yes, your uniforms... Elena!" Katherine yelled again, and the petite mage who had just completed the healing magic hurriedly walked toward the guild captain.

"Take these ladies to the changing room and see that they get into the right fits," she said.

"Yes, Captain," Elena said, then gestured to the girls to follow her. "Come with me," she said in that cute, tiny voice of hers.

"Now for you two," Katherine continued, looking at Kayden and Aiden briefly before taking her gaze up to the ceiling.

"Piers, you scallywag! You’ve been in there for a full hour! Unless you want me to come bury you in there, I suggest you hurry up!" She yelled everything she said, making it reach the hearing of one of her guild’s mages, who had been in the toilet for a while.

Piers, a blonde-haired guy, was in the dark room. He shook his head and sighed when he heard the captain’s barking.

Then Katherine turned toward Aiden and Kayden and said, "Piers will be here in a minute. He’ll handle your fittings. I’ll go get ready myself."

They both simply nodded in unison without saying a word. Then she turned to make her way out of the main room. Her gaze briefly met Bernard’s as he walked past her while holding his head.

He looked away, and his pace instantly increased as he made his way into the kitchen to take care of the dishes.

After she was out of sight, both Kayden and Aiden let out sighs of relief, as if they had been holding their breath the whole time.

"That woman is scary," Piers said to them. He had finally come down from the privy.

Aiden and Kayden immediately turned their attention toward him, and Aiden replied, "You don’t say." That fact had been established already, after all, they had seen it with their own eyes.

"Frankly, I’ve been hiding from her all morning. Your first lesson: it’s best to always stay out of sight when she’s mad. Now come with me, let’s get you both changed," Piers said.

They both nodded and went with him.

...

Several minutes later, the boys had returned to the guild’s main room. Now they were dressed in uniforms that matched those of the rest of the boys.

Aiden and Young Lord Kayden wore black jackets with bronze-colored buttons and shoulder pieces. There was a red cape attached behind their jackets, with the symbol of a black raven drawn on the back of the cape.

Soon after, the girls returned with Elena, and they were now all dressed alike. They wore fitted black dresses that hugged tightly to their bodies. The skirts were short and ended at mid-thigh level. They had black metal armor on their arms.

Every boy in the room couldn’t help but stare at the girls. This included Piers, Kayden, and Aiden.

Arianna was being stared at the most. Her figure was much more pronounced compared to the petite Elena and the less developed Laela. Her outfit made her assets much more prominent as well.

"Why are they all staring that way?" Laela whispered closely to Elena with a shy look.

Elena smiled and replied, "For years it’s just been the captain and me. It’s good to have two other women for a change."

Arianna herself didn’t mind the attention, but just then Katherine walked in from her chambers and stole all of it.

"And right there is our guild’s own goddess," Piers said with a smile and in admiration.

She commanded admiration and attention effortlessly in the room.

Katherine’s face broke into a smile when she saw her guild members all staring. She had forgotten about how mad she was at them and even asked Bernard, who stood close and was now done with the dishes, "Bern, love, has the pain gone away?"

Bernard nodded sheepishly in affirmation.

You could say it was one of the reasons they all loved their captain. She usually didn’t stay mad for long and knew how to look out for every one of them.

Then she called everyone around. "Alright, guys, come close."

They all heeded their captain and walked in closer, and then she gestured toward the new academy mages.
