Chapter 24 Little Sister, Was Your Flight Delayed? Why Haven't You Arrived Yet?

Gu Jiangyan walked closer to Jian Junruo, looking at the little one who was staring at him with wide eyes, his expression exceptionally complex.

“Junruo, do you know, I truly envy you, and I’m even a little jealous.”

Jian Junruo was taken aback.

Gu Jiangyan patted Jian Sheng’s head, “No matter how much I didn’t believe you, at least Sheng Sheng has always stood firmly by your side.”

Jian Junruo smiled, filled with pride and self-satisfaction.

Gu Jiangyan slowly recounted what had just happened, concluding with great seriousness, “I’m very sorry for leaving you alone in the hospital, I’m sorry for doubting you before I discovered the truth, and I’m sorry that even knowing the truth, I was unwilling to admit my own mistakes.”

“No matter what you’ve done in the past, at least this time I’ve confirmed I misunderstood you. I owe you an apology.”

“Junruo, I’m sorry, can you forgive me?”

Gu Jiangyan’s thin lips were pressed together, his gaze towards Jian Junruo exceptionally earnest.

However, Jian Junruo shook her head, “Impossible.”

Gu Jiangyan’s expression froze on his face, his demeanor now showing only disbelief.

As if unable to comprehend why this woman wouldn’t accept his apology, especially after he had finally put aside his pride.

Jian Junruo was still leaning against the hospital bed, her ankle swollen and unhealed, appearing quite disheveled. Yet, the demeanor she displayed was in no way inferior.

“Whether you apologize or not is your business, whether I forgive you is my choice. Is there any inevitable connection between the two?”

Jian Junruo smiled, taking Jian Sheng from Gu Jiangyan’s arms. The little girl’s body was soft, like a ball of cotton when held, yet she felt as if she held the entire world.

She looked calmly at the fluctuating expression of Gu Jiangyan, the man she had once loved and still couldn’t let go of.

“You have indeed changed a lot, and your apology also surprises me. However, what I want to see is you letting go of your ridiculous pride, being able to discern right from wrong on your own, rather than being coaxed by Sheng Sheng to apologize to me.”

“I’m tired and want to rest. You should leave now.”

After speaking, Jian Junruo hugged Jian Sheng as if she were a plush toy, closed her eyes, and pretended to sleep.

She paid no heed to Gu Jiangyan, whose face had turned a shade of green then red from her words.

Gu Jiangyan opened his mouth, then simply waved his hand at the person behind him. Everyone withdrew from the ward, leaving the space for the mother and daughter.

Outside the ward, Qi Suibai sat on a corridor chair with a sullen face, feeling exceptionally gloomy.

His displeasure with Gu Jiangyan reached a new height. If it weren’t for Gu Jiangyan, he wouldn’t have been implicated and kicked out as well.

As Gu Jiangyan was about to leave with Qin Wen and Zhong Ziping to deal with Tang Xiaoxiao’s mess, he noticed Qi Suibai’s actions and remembered that there was another person here who might play a crucial role in this incident.

Moreover, he seemed unusually familiar with Sheng Sheng.

Gu Jiangyan extended his hand to Qi Suibai, “Hello, my name is Gu Jiangyan. Perhaps we can get acquainted anew.”

Qi Suibai was not about to give him a pleasant response. He looked down at his phone as if he hadn’t heard anything.

As for demeanor and upbringing?

Hmph, that depended on whom it was with!

After being snubbed by Qi Suibai, Gu Jiangyan didn’t pursue it further. He glanced at him again before leaving directly with the other two.

-

“Huh, is this the current capital city? But it looks no different from Jiangcheng?”

Jian Junruo held Jian Sheng’s hand as they stepped off the helicopter. Jian Sheng tilted her head, looking around, not yet realizing the flaw in her words.

However, except for Qi Suibai, no one else would think amiss.

Qi Suibai followed closely behind them, introducing, “This is one of our Qi family’s estates in the capital. According to Grandpa’s wishes, he wanted to invite you both to the Qi family residence directly. However, considering Sheng Sheng and Auntie might not be accustomed to living there, we’ve arranged your accommodation here.”

Jian Junruo couldn’t help but marvel at the Qi family’s immense wealth, and was again surprised by the relationship between Qi Suibai and her daughter.

What kind of friendship could lead to such thoughtful arrangements, a complete display of going all out?

Three days had passed since Gu Jiangyan’s apology. With Jian Sheng secretly using her spiritual power to heal, Jian Junruo’s foot injury was completely healed by the next day, and she was discharged from the hospital.

After spending another day handling affairs in Jiangcheng, the two of them boarded the helicopter with Qi Suibai, heading for the capital.

Jian Junruo had initially felt a bit embarrassed, but upon learning that Qi Suibai’s helicopter had flown from the capital and was merely returning, she half-heartedly accepted. However, she couldn’t help but be amazed by Qi Suibai’s eagerness in rushing over.

“I plan to take Sheng Sheng to meet her friends there tonight at my home. Would Auntie like to join us?”

“Sheng Sheng has other friends at the Qi family’s place?”

Jian Junruo was surprised. Sheng Sheng had grown up under her watchful eye all these years. How come she didn’t know Sheng Sheng had met so many members of the Qi family?

After some hesitation, Jian Junruo still gave up the idea of going to the Qi family’s residence together.

Given Qi Suibai’s status and the Qi family’s standing, if they intended any harm towards Sheng Sheng, they wouldn’t have gone through such elaborate measures. She didn’t need to worry.

The rooms had been prepared before the three of them arrived, with all the necessary living supplies. Jian Junruo and Jian Sheng only needed to move in.

After a brief bit of unpacking, it was already afternoon. The three of them had lunch, and Jian Junruo planned to take Sheng Sheng sightseeing in the capital.

Just then, Jian Junruo’s phone suddenly rang.

A resentful voice came from the other end, “Little sister, did your flight get delayed? You said you’d arrive around eleven, but I’ve been waiting until past two, and still haven’t seen any sign of you… Hey, your phone is connecting now? Have you already deplaned?”

“Ah?” Jian Junruo exclaimed, “Little brother, you went to the airport to pick us up?”

Outside the capital airport, Jian Junyu, holding his phone, hurriedly pulled a young man wearing a baseball cap and mask, exuding an aura of impatience, out of the car and scanned around, trying to find his little sister and niece.

Not far from him, a bodyguard and driver in black clothes stood diligently under the sun, holding a pickup sign, large beads of sweat constantly rolling down their faces.

Hearing Jian Junruo’s voice, Jian Junyu quickly said happily, “Yes, little sister. I definitely had to pick you up when you came to the capital. You can see me directly when you exit the airport. I’ll also introduce you to your eldest nephew.”

“Little Uncle, there are so many people here. What if I’m recognized if you drag me out?” The young man pulled out of the car by Jian Junyu impatiently shook off his hand, his face full of displeasure. “Don’t the people you’re waiting for have any sense of time? It’s been hours! I checked the flights from Jiangcheng to the capital, and there were no delays.”

Jian Junyu quickly covered the receiver and glared at Jian Junyu, “That’s your aunt. Be polite when you see her later, and address her properly.”
