Wang Muman breathed a sigh of relief and lay down on the bed. The light had already been extinguished. She closed her eyes, thinking about the photo she had just seen. As for how she felt, it was different now. Recalling the words spoken earlier, Wang Muman suddenly realized she had indeed said "thank you" many times. He always said he was the vice-class monitor and helping classmates was his duty. She figured he would have helped anyone else too, if they were in the same situation. Thinking this, Wang Muman instantly felt at ease and fell asleep.
Sunday, the sports meet was still ongoing. Zhang Jiayi woke up very early because she had to take photos. Shen Jiaxin also had an event to compete in, so they left together, leaving the two of them still sound asleep.
Wang Muman was the first to wake up, due to her biological clock; she couldn't sleep for too long. She rubbed her messy hair, glanced at her watch, and saw it was already quite late. She went directly downstairs to wash up. Seeing He Lele still not awake, Wang Muman went to the cafeteria by herself and bought some steamed buns, tea eggs, pan-fried dumplings, siu mai, congee, soy milk, and two grilled sausages. She bought a lot, fearing He Lele wouldn't be full.
Wang Muman walked along the road carrying the items, looking towards the sports field. There were still many people there. Judging by He Lele's state, she would only be able to come out and see in the afternoon. She returned to the dormitory and saw He Lele had not yet gotten up, so she called her to wake up.
He Lele was awakened by the aroma of the grilled sausages. She pulled open the bed curtain and saw many food items placed on her desk.
"Manman, my breakfast is this rich! You've spent too much!" He Lele came down, first washed up, and then started eating.
"I was afraid you wouldn't eat enough. It's not like I spent too much! You always treat me to delicious food, and I'm afraid you'll spend too much!" Wang Muman patted He Lele's head. Seeing her eat with relish, she felt relieved.
In the afternoon, He Lele and Wang Muman came to the sports field and sat on the steps, which offered a unique perspective. The sky was very blue, and the air was quite fresh. Watching the people exercising, Wang Muman and He Lele chatted about their amusing school days together, as well as about different people and events. Wang Muman found the moment very pleasant and greatly enjoyed this time.
"Your junior high classmates are really quite interesting. Mine were very ordinary and boring, a bunch of people who were extremely competitive." He Lele complained about the dullness of her junior high.
"Actually, there are many interesting people, but few who share similar interests. And even fewer become friends," Wang Muman offered her opinion.
"Look at us, we're so different, yet we've become friends. I think this is fate. Fate brought us together, and fate made us desk mates." He Lele gazed at Wang Muman, noticing how clear and beautiful her eyes were. Who wouldn't want to be friends with such a girl?
Wang Muman smiled, then looked back at the blue sky, falling silent. Both of them were quiet, but the atmosphere was comfortable.
"Two beautiful ladies, could I get to know you?" A stranger's face appeared before Wang Muman and He Lele.
"May I ask who you are?" He Lele found his appearance ordinary, but his voice was pleasant.
"I'm Song Zicheng, from Class One," the boy introduced himself.
He Lele frowned. Why did this guy suddenly show up here? Seeing He Lele's expression, Song Zicheng added, "I lost a bet with my friend. I just need to know your names and classes."
"Oh, we're both in Class Five. I'm He Lele, and she's Wang Muman. That's all. You can go now." He Lele wanted to hurry him along, as they were enjoying their quiet time.
