Chapter 84 Broken Bridge

"What does this mean?" Wang Muman looked at He Lele, who was on the verge of tears.

"It's just that you said such touching words all of a sudden, I'm a very sentimental person!" He Lele pinched her cheek.

It was almost their turn. Several boys were standing in front of them.

"Sister Manman doesn't need to help, but it's hard to say about Sister Lele," Zhou Mingyu said, looking at the two of them from beside a tree.

Wang Muman hung her card on a higher branch.

"Who are you looking down on! Zhou Mingyu, I'm going to hang it up for you to see." He Lele tiptoed, stretching her hand very high. Wang Muman wanted to help her hang it, but He Lele glanced at Zhou Mingyu and refused Wang Muman's assistance.

Wang Muman shook her head helplessly as she watched her struggle with the tall branch.

"I see Li Zhentao, He Lele!" Wang Muman used her trump card.

As expected, He Lele immediately hung the card on a lower branch and turned to ask her, "Where is he? Where?"

"Over there, do you see it?" Wang Muman pointed in a direction, and Li Zhentao happened to be laughing and talking with his classmates.

He Lele immediately looked in that direction, but quickly patted Zhou Mingyu's shoulder, "Who is that girl?"

"How would I know? I'm not in their class," Zhou Mingyu replied, not wanting to deal with He Lele.

Yan Cheng did not join the conversation. He only saw the fluttering cards on the tree. He had just watched Wang Muman hang one, and the writing was a bit blurry. It was only when the wind blew it upright that Yan Cheng could see the words clearly.

"It's good to just stay like this," he read, his card having the same color as his own, and the writing as sparse. His own wish was much simpler. Yan Cheng had written on his card: May all wishes come true, and may there be peace and joy. The former was for himself, the latter for them.

The wind rustled the leaves, "shasha," year after year the wind blew, blowing through the years. Looking at the various colored cards hanging on the tree, from a distance, the red strings were particularly conspicuous. The cards swayed, adding a touch of color to the monotonous scenery.

Wang Muman suddenly felt that what she had written was good, and it was enough to maintain this state without asking for anything more. She watched He Lele interrogate Zhou Mingyu, their playful bickering adding some interesting moments to life. Although she had seen it many times and was used to it, it was still quite entertaining to watch their performances occasionally.

Wang Muman's gaze fell upon the two of them, while Yan Cheng's gaze was on Wang Muman. He recalled Bian Zhilin's line, "You are looking at the scenery on the bridge, and the person looking at the scenery is looking at you." Yan Cheng saw a strand of hair fall by Wang Muman's face, blown by the wind to her lips. He watched her tuck the hair behind her ear with her hand, her chubby side profile, the sunlight in her eyes, bright and shining, as she looked towards He Lele, a smile on her lips. He didn't know what she was thinking, but Yan Cheng knew that her heart was as content as the words she had written.

The tree-planting event ended, and after dinner, everyone began their evening self-study. He Lele did not ask to go to the office today.

"Xiao Le, why aren't you coming with me today? Haven't you seen him?" Wang Muman asked He Lele.

Li Wei had expected He Lele to help him move homework again, so he went to the office to ask physics questions as soon as class ended. Wang Muman was a little worried. She had just collected all the homework, so she would have to move it herself.

"I feel like I've been dumped!" He Lele said sadly, looking out the window.

"I'll talk to you about it carefully when I get back," Wang Muman said, seeing that it was getting late, and began to move the homework.
