The grouping was quickly finalized. Lin Yuan, Wu Tian, and Wu Mengyao were in one group; Zhou Ping, Lin Qingyan, and Zhu Mingjun were in another; Zhao Mengnan, Wang Zhihai, and Zhao Anjing formed the third group.
Wu Mengyao was the girl who dared to shoot at night demons with a heavy crossbow! Neither Lin Yuan nor Wu Tian objected to her joining the training.
Sun Haiping and his family, who were observing from the side, were astonished. Then, their gaze turned to their son with disappointment, as if he were failing to live up to their expectations.
Unexpectedly, young Sun Qin, with his large, innocent eyes, looked at his parents helplessly and said with a wronged tone, "I, I will help Mengyao sister cut clothes, and she promised to make me a combat suit too."
Sun Haiping laughed heartily, ruffled his son's hair, and said nothing. They didn't seek great achievements from their child, only that he be sensible and well-behaved.
"Alright, the groupings are out. In order of sequence, Comrade Lin Yuan's team is the first group, Comrade Lin Qingyan's team is the second group, and my team is the third group."
After confirming the groupings, Zhao Mengnan and Wang Zhihai stepped forward.
"All teams, three people each, will be divided into a main attacker, a secondary attacker, and a long-range shooter. They will respectively use assault rifles, submachine guns, and handguns as long-range weapons. Our third group will serve as the firearms training instructors. Due to insufficient weapons and equipment, we will first demonstrate the correct posture for holding a firearm twice. Then, we will hand over the weapons to your two groups for training. Understood?"
"Understood!"
The training began quickly. Lin Yuan's first group adapted the fastest. Apart from their innate talent, the firearms training they had conducted over the past few days using official reference materials had also been quite effective. Their hands were steady, their breathing even, as solid as a mountain.
Even Wu Mengyao held on for a long time before her breathing began to falter slightly.
During the brief interlude when the team members were training their firearm stability, Wang Zhihai and Zhao Mengnan started introducing CQB tactics.
Wang Zhihai and Zhao Anjing also picked up handguns for stability training. Wang Zhihai was still using the one borrowed from Mu Qingtian, and it had also been unloaded.
Here, apart from the instructors who were free to teach from the front, no one had special privileges. This was Lin Yuan's request.
"Close Quarter Battle, abbreviated as CQB, is close-range combat within confined spaces. It is a combat skill and tactical model developed by special units such as assault teams, counter-terrorism special forces of various militaries and police forces in response to current environmental needs. It is used to counter the ever-increasing terrorist activities, crime, and special operations needs in urban environments. This combat skill and tactic are completely different from traditional field and jungle warfare. Furthermore, it is often applied in confined indoor environments such as enemy command centers, buildings, residential areas, and alleys. Therefore, this tactic is called 'close-range combat within confined spaces,' but not all combat that occurs indoors is called CQB.
Although our current enemies have changed from humans to a series of non-human monsters like zombies, fungal monsters, and night demon mutants, certain adaptive changes must be made in tactics.
However, we must not forget the tactics for dealing with humans. Everyone has watched various post-apocalyptic novels, TV series, and movies. You should be well aware that not all of them are necessarily compatriots.
The so-called CQB generally includes various close combat skills, firearm equipment, gear carrying, personnel grouping, combat positions, firepower deployment, movement, formations, communication, and the application of other advanced electronic equipment. Due to subjective and objective factors such as the styles, traditions, legal restrictions, and moral concepts of forces in different regions, there are also slight differences in CQB textbooks and concepts across countries.
Based on our current situation, all weapons and equipment are based on reality. There is no logistical support, and airdrops may not always be retrievable. Therefore, we need to formulate operational plans based on the weapons and equipment we possess and can manufacture. This also requires the collective wisdom and discussion of everyone to refine.
As for the close combat skills within CQB, as I said, I will teach them to you after you have mastered the basics, can control your body coordination, and have learned the techniques of applying force.
The human body has many weak points. Attacking these weak points can cause extreme pain and incapacitate the opponent, thus disarming and apprehending them.
Weak points: eyes, behind the ears, nose, back of the head, chin, throat, carotid artery, below the clavicle (solar plexus), armpit, inner thigh, flank, groin, below the shoulder blades, etc. Human weapons: anything with hard bones or joints can be used as a weapon to attack the enemy, such as knees, elbows, fists, the heel of the palm, forehead, feet, etc.
Therefore, this skill requires a high level of combat foundation and physical fitness. Everyone should not aim too high but proceed step by step.
Of course, I will prioritize teaching some individuals based on their learning progress, and then guide more people to learn.
Successful CQB often requires the coordination of multiple factors. Firstly, before an attack, complete intelligence of the scene should be collected as much as possible, analyzed, and studied to determine the best time to attack for a surprise effect that catches the enemy off guard. The operation during the 1997 hostage crisis at the Japanese Embassy in Peru is a typical successful example. Once the attack is launched, if encountering or coming into contact with suspects, the situation must be controlled with the fiercest attitude, overwhelming the suspects psychologically so that they fear and dare not act rashly. If necessary, the weapons at hand can be used to increase the suspects' psychological pressure. At this point, hesitation or indecision in handling the situation must be avoided. During an operation, the situation changes rapidly, and the goal is to resolve the suspects and control the situation as quickly as possible. Of course, regular rigorous training and luck are also very important.
Most special units will organize personnel appropriately based on mission characteristics, such as attack, support, sniper, demolition, and containment teams.
The attack team is the core member of the entire CQB operation and the key to mission success. Therefore, the attack team is usually composed of the elite members of the entire special unit. A minimum of two attack teams, or four people per attack team, is most suitable. Depending on the mission needs, multiple attack teams can be deployed simultaneously.
The support team is responsible for replacing casualties of the attack team and taking over the monitoring of suspects apprehended by the attack team (until uniformed police take over. Note that the identification of suspects is the responsibility of uniformed police, not the support team).
The sniper team is composed of exceptionally skilled and experienced members with excellent marksmanship within the special forces team, responsible for monitoring the scene environment. They maintain constant communication with the attack team commander and the mission commander to provide immediate firepower support and situational monitoring when needed. They also restrict the suspects' movement space using their weapons depending on the situation. Usually, for a mission, there will be two or more sniper teams occupying high ground (i.e., higher buildings or other advantageous positions at the scene, facilitating environmental monitoring) to perform sniper duties. Each sniper team is usually composed of two people: one is the shooter, responsible for sniping; the other is the assistant shooter, responsible for cover, vigilance, providing information on range and suspect locations, and substituting for the shooter in case of casualties.
The demolition team is responsible for clearing obstacles that impede the operational route, such as walls, locked doors, iron gates, and iron nets. In addition to personal equipment and firearms, they are also equipped with demolition tools such as ramming hammers, breaching guns, chainsaws, and explosives.
Our personnel are limited, our equipment is limited, and the enemies are quite unique. Therefore, mission grouping needs to be determined according to the situation..."
The training concluded as the moon rose and the zombies began to stir.
Lin Yuan and Wu Tian gained the most. One possessed extraordinary talent in this area, while the other had a special family background. Most importantly, their foundations were solid, and their ability to absorb this knowledge was strong.
Wang Zhihai and Zhao Mengnan had a premonition that soon, Lin Yuan and Wu Tian's tactical literacy would catch up to theirs.
For the next two days, Lin Yuan and his group spent their time in training. During this period, Sun Haiping and Qin Xia, who had recovered well, also participated in the training.
Despite losing an arm, he surprisingly showed great talent in marksmanship. Unfortunately, missing an arm was an undeniable fatal flaw for both training and wielding a firearm. Even the unwilling Zhu Mingjun had no choice but to give up, having him train in the method of holding a gun with one hand and firing.
Furthermore, Lin Yuan's guess was indeed correct; some residual fungal spores were still present in Wang Zhihai's body, which led to a significant improvement in the training results over the past three days.
But this was not the biggest surprise. It was now 7:56 PM, and the broadcast was about to begin.
Today was July 24th.
The airdrop notification had arrived!
