Chapter 366: Irrelevant

For the first time, Lu Xiaodan received such a significant task, and it was impossible to say there was no pressure.

However, since it was just a draft for Lin Hao, she immediately felt the pressure ease a little.

But then again, asking a mere liaison officer like her to draft a new city plan, wasn't it somewhat frivolous?

Lu Xiaodan's emotional intelligence wasn't particularly high, yet she refrained from asking directly, merely harboring confusion in her heart.

"Rest assured, County Magistrate Lin, I will do my best," Lu Xiaodan replied loudly.

"In a while, Director Wang from the city's finance bureau will come down for an inspection, likely checking our financial status. I'll personally go over, so you don't need to come with me," Lin Hao instructed.

"Okay, I'll prepare the new city planning proposal," Lu Xiaodan replied.

"Xiaolu, you must keep the new city planning confidential. Some matters haven't been approved by higher leadership yet, and if leaked, it might cause unnecessary trouble, so..." Lin Hao smiled as he advised.

"County Magistrate Lin, I will keep it confidential," Lu Xiaodan nodded.

Indeed, as the county magistrate's secretary, many matters require confidentiality, including some of Lin Hao's personal life and trivial matters, like when he and Secretary Li went to a hotel tearoom to discuss matters last night.

Initially, Lu Xiaodan suspected if something was going on between Lin Hao and Secretary Li. However, hearing about the new city planning proposal today dispelled some of her doubts, as they were likely discussing this matter last night.

"Xiaolu, there are reasons for not taking you to the finance bureau, and I'm sure you understand," Lin Hao added with a smile.

"I understand," Lu Xiaodan replied.

In fact, she knew very well that if any issues were found in the finance bureau, the fewer people who know, the better, so it's best not to get involved.

Moreover, Lin Hao personally going was also out of concern for such a situation, to privately resolve it and prevent it from escalating.

After giving instructions, Lin Hao called Su Muchen at the finance bureau.

"Hello, County Magistrate Lin!" Su Muchen seemed to be in a great mood.

"Director Su, Director Wang from the city's finance bureau will come down for an inspection. Please prepare," Lin Hao said straightforwardly.

"Rest assured, County Magistrate Lin, we have been fully prepared," Su Muchen responded with a smile.

"This time, they will certainly check our financial expenditures from last year and the budget for next year..." Lin Hao explained in detail.

As a veteran of the finance bureau, Su Muchen was naturally aware of the stakes. Her predecessor learned the hard way regarding monetary issues, and she wouldn't engage in embezzlement or bribery for personal gain.

Besides, Su's family background was respectable, and she wasn't short of money. Above all, she was more passionate about power.

Originally, the county committee was supposed to hold a democratic life meeting this morning but had to postpone it to welcome the leader.

Lin Hao waited at the entrance but didn't see any sign of Director Wang from Wuning City's finance bureau. Eventually, Su Muchen sent a message, informing him that Director Wang went directly to the finance bureau.

Receiving this news, Lin Hao rushed to the county finance bureau and sent another message to Li Jingyi, reporting that Director Wang had arrived.

Upon his arrival at the finance bureau, Lin Hao headed straight for Su Muchen's office, intending to meet Director Wang first for further work planning.

Unfortunately, upon arrival, Director Wang was in the main meeting room, instructing people to review financial ledgers and documents, looking displeased.

Su Muchen was assisting, directing people to move numerous files, clearly cooperating with Director Wang's investigation.

Following the removal of the former county party secretary Zhang Jianming and the original county magistrate Zhou Banghuai, plus the arrest of the former finance bureau chief, Wucheng County's finances became a chaotic mess.

Director Wang's current investigation would undoubtedly reveal numerous discrepancies and mismatches.

"Hello, Director Wang! I am Lin Hao, the executive vice county magistrate of Wucheng County," Lin Hao stepped forward to greet, extending his hand.

In official circles, using full titles conferred more formality and officialdom.

Director Wang had a stern face as he shook Lin Hao's hand, speaking gravely, "County Magistrate Lin, so young and promising, it's truly remarkable. Your future is limitless!"

"Director Wang, you look familiar. Have we met before?" Lin Hao said with a smile.

"Met before? I don't think so," Director Wang thought he was making small talk and didn't pay much attention.

"Director Wang, this place looks chaotic. How about moving to Director Su's office for a cup of tea?" Lin Hao suggested, considering inviting Director Wang to the office for a private chat.

"County Magistrate Lin, I've noticed many of these ledgers have issues!" Director Wang said, his face darkened.

"You're aware, Director Wang, these messy accounts were left by previous leaders. We're now trying to straighten things out, address past deficits, and request more time from higher-ups," Lin Hao explained with a pained expression.

"Just saying it's the mess of previous leaders, do you absolve all responsibility?" Director Wang clearly wasn't buying it.

Hearing this, Lin Hao's heart skipped a beat, frowning as he replied with a wry smile, "Director Wang is right, we indeed bear responsibility, and we will thoroughly rectify the finance bureau."

"Rectifying now is meaningless. Look at these ledgers; they are completely messed up... And these figures, clearly problematic..." Director Wang scolded as he picked up a ledger.
