Outside the cave, Qin Hui let out a long sigh, feeling much lighter. While trying new things could be novel, Qin Hui preferred to act according to his conscience.
He was not someone who would forcibly take what wasn't his, as that simply did not align with Qin Hui's way of thinking.
"Qin Hui, what were you thinking just now?"
The female ghost floated out, her voice chilling.
"I couldn't get past my own conscience. If Wang Xiaoyan had resisted, perhaps I would have followed through with my original plan and taken her. But she yielded, she surrendered in distress. Tell me, as a man, how could I possibly bully a woman like that?"
Qin Hui asked, touching his conscience.
"Very well, I anticipated this outcome from the beginning. Don't worry, I will handle this myself, you don't need to be troubled."
With that, the female ghost floated out of Qin Hui's ring.
After hearing these words, Qin Hui's heart was greatly relieved. Qin Hui's consciousness could control himself, but it couldn't dictate others. If the female ghost wanted to do something, let her do it. Qin Hui no longer wanted to bother with it.
Relieved of his burden, Qin Hui returned to Li Dazhuang's residence.
Li Dazhuang was currently staring intently at Su Shijun, afraid that if she woke up, he wouldn't be able to knock her out again.
"Brother Hui, you, how did you get back?"
Li Dazhuang was somewhat surprised. He hadn't expected Qin Hui to return tonight.
"Alright, everything is fine now."
Qin Hui twisted his neck, saying with a relaxed expression.
Sometimes, one could be ruthless, but one still had to overcome their own inner struggles. As long as that inner hurdle was cleared, nothing else mattered.
Hearing Qin Hui's words, Li Dazhuang also relaxed and started to sleep on his own.
Qin Hui stood beside Su Shijun, looking at her perfect face, feeling a touch of envy in his heart.
Qin Hui knew that if he wished, Su Shijun would completely dedicate herself to him, but the time was not yet right.
The pleasures of the flesh were always fleeting, while ordinary life was everlasting.
Qin Hui did not want to enter Su Shijun's life, because Qin Hui carried too much.
After watching for a moment, Su Shijun's eyebrows twitched, and finally, her eyes opened.
Seeing Su Shijun's anxious expression, Qin Hui smiled helplessly and shook his head.
Upon seeing this, Su Shijun's tension dissipated, because she knew Qin Hui was still the same Qin Hui, unchanged.
With her worries gone, Su Shijun quickly fell asleep, slumbering peacefully like an infant.
Qin Hui, meanwhile, closed his eyes to rest, his consciousness probing the surroundings.
Although there were guards at night to defend against wild beasts, Qin Hui preferred to do what he could himself.
Late at night, everyone slept with their clothes on.
Only the direction of the cave was permeated with a sinister aura, giving off a terrifying feeling.
Qin Hui knew that the female ghost was possessing someone. He wondered what Wang Xiaoyan would be like after being possessed by the female ghost, likely completely losing her humanity, for it was a case of vengeful spirits possessing the living, a separation of human and demon.
"Ah."
Su Xue'er's scream echoed within the cave. As a woman, when had she ever witnessed such a scene?
Qin Hui had left on his own earlier and hadn't taken Su Xue'er with him, so she had witnessed the possession firsthand.
Su Xue'er cowered in a corner, terrified, watching Wang Xiaoyan's bones dislocate and separate, then realign. Wang Xiaoyan's eyes were vacant, her face stiff and expressionless. Su Xue'er was already in tears from fear.
At this moment, she felt as though she was enduring life's greatest torment. It was said that the greatest shock could render a person unconscious, but what Su Xue'er was experiencing was even more terrifying. At least if she fainted, she wouldn't know anything. But Su Xue'er was afraid to faint, fearing she would never wake up again.
Hearing Su Xue'er's voice, Qin Hui quickly arrived outside the cave.
Despite the eerie yin energy within the cave, Qin Hui was unafraid.
Perhaps out of respect for Qin Hui's arrival, the female ghost obliged by blowing Su Xue'er out with a gust of eerie wind.
As soon as Su Xue'er saw Qin Hui, she rushed into his embrace as if he were a savior, completely forgetting Qin Hui's earlier harshness towards her.
"Qin Hui, run quickly, inside, there's a ghost inside."
Su Xue'er said with a terrified expression, her small hands gripping Qin Hui's back tightly, refusing to let go, her nails digging into Qin Hui's flesh.
Seeing how frightened Su Xue'er was, Qin Hui knew his comfort would be of little use. If Su Xue'er continued to scream, she would likely wake everyone else up.
So, Qin Hui picked up Su Xue'er and headed out of the tribe, wanting some peace and quiet.
Perhaps out of extreme fear, Su Xue'er did not resist at all along the way, allowing Qin Hui to carry her.
Ten minutes later, Qin Hui placed Su Xue'er under a large tree.
"Alright, don't be scared. What you saw just now was your imagination, like a mirage in the desert."
Qin Hui comforted her calmly.
After Qin Hui's explanation, Su Xue'er's anxious heart finally settled down a bit. Then she asked, "Will Sister Xiaoyan be alright?"
"This, this we'll have to wait until tomorrow to know. But your Sister Xiaoyan's life will be saved. The very existence of this isolated island is peculiar enough, let alone some strange occurrences."
Qin Hui explained patiently. Perhaps Su Xue'er's frightened appearance evoked Qin Hui's sympathy, or perhaps Qin Hui was naturally a doting elder brother, fond of those younger than him.
"Hoo, hoo."
After listening, Su Xue'er let out several deep breaths, finally calming herself down.
However, Su Xue'er soon realized something was amiss. Qin Hui was being too agreeable, completely unlike the previous fierce, almost menacing Qin Hui.
"Qin Hui, you were just pretending, weren't you? You never intended to bully us."
"Hmph, I was almost scared to death by you just now."
Su Xue'er said confidently after recovering her senses.
"Cough... cough..."
Qin Hui was somewhat speechless. Young people nowadays were quite clever; they understood things with just a hint.
"Brother Xiao Hui, from now on, I'll consider you my brother. You have to protect me."
Su Xue'er said coquettishly.
Acting cute was a woman's nature, especially for a young and beautiful woman like Su Xue'er. Nine out of ten men couldn't resist their coquetry.
"What, aren't you afraid I'll devour you?"
Qin Hui wanted to establish some authority, but Su Xue'er wasn't buying it.
"If you want to bully me, then come on. Anyway, as a weak woman, I can't do anything."
"Who asked you to be the overlord of this tribe? What resistance can I offer? At most, it would be like being bitten by a dog."
Su Xue'er acted as if she were sacrificing herself for righteousness.
