Chapter 178: Immunity

Chapter 178: Chapter 178: Immunity

The soldiers who had gossiped heaved a sigh of relief.

’My god! We escaped unscathed, otherwise... ’ The soldiers felt grateful toward Linda in their hearts. If it wasn’t for Linda’s reprimand, they might have faced much worse.

"Alright then, since everything is settled, I won’t continue to drag the matter. Let’s focus on the next segment. Sparring. Is there anyone who still doubts my capabilities?" Ivy asked, her calm gaze sweeping through the soldiers.

The sunlight fell on Ivy’s body, making her translucent skin glow, attracting the attention of the soldiers. Though her figure was slender, no one doubted that she was capable of beating them or worse... even letting them taste defeat.

Yet...

"Instructor, I don’t look down on your capabilities, but I still want to spar with you." It was none other than Lucas.

Ivy smirked. Confident yet cautious. She liked this style and said,

"Alright then, come here. Use of superpowers is allowed, but don’t use any weapons like blades, daggers, or such." She announced the rule, making the soldiers wonder why she came up with such strange and weird rules.

Superpowers were much more troublesome to deal with as compared to weapons. From what they have noticed, their instructor didn’t have any kind of super strength or super speed.

Does she have elemental power?

’That will make sense.’ Others thought while their eyes strayed to Ivy and Lucas, who were now facing off against each other on the platform specially made by the mysterious base leader for the army.

There were also barracks, which, though having the same structure as their apartment, were decorated like a real military, making them wonder why the base leader knew military barracks design.

In order to make barracks, Ivy had customized each barrack, which gave her a headache and left her hoping that she would awaken a hidden feature that could allow her to make a template of houses.

Ivy stared at Lucas, her eyes closely examining him before she smirked, "You go ahead first; I won’t take advantage of you."

"Then I won’t be polite." Lucas had no such reservation like "ladies first," not to mention he didn’t dare to underestimate his instructor, knowing fully well how capable she was.

He swung his fist, deciding to avoid using his thunder superpower, thinking Ivy might have an element that may counter his element and hence looked so confident.

Ivy dodged the fist; from her perspective the fist looked way too slow. She used her right hand to grasp Lucas’s left hand and performed an overthrow.

Thud!

Pain spread from the back of his spine to his butt, but Lucas stood up and aimed for Ivy’s stomach.

Ivy narrowed her eyes, her eyes flashing with a glint as she captured his hand and swung a fist on his face, causing Lucas to have a bruise near his lips.

In a swift move, she released his hand and spun around, her connecting with Lucas’s stomach. Lucas didn’t stand like a duck; he caught Ivy’s leg and tried to throw Ivy off balance, but the next second, his pupil contracted as Ivy twisted her body flexibly, freeing her leg from his grip.

"Wow..." The soldiers sighed; they couldn’t believe their eyes. Was this something a normal human could perform? Only their instructor.

Feeling frustrated as sweat dripped down his face, an idea flashed in his mind, and this time again he swung his fist, when Ivy, with her sharp eyes, caught his fist again. He channeled his thunder element, using his body as a medium to electrocute Ivy.

Since he wasn’t aiming to kill, he had controlled the thunderbolt, but it was still enough to make a human immobile for a few minutes, giving him the opening he was in desperate need of.

Ivy felt a wave of thunder jolt her body; however, contrary to Lucas’s expectation, Ivy didn’t become immobilized; instead, she continued to fight.

Why? Ivy needs to thank her previous life’s torture. Although she still lacks the immunity she developed against the thunder element in her previous life, her ability to endure pain has significantly increased.

Now the pain of thunder getting channeled in her body was just like thousands of ants biting her from inside, but other than that she hardly suffered any losses.

As for why she wasn’t electrocuted, even Ivy didn’t know.

It was always like this. Her skin would be burned in case someone used their fire superpower, but it never affected her mobility. Even if her legs were burned, it did not affect her mobility. She rarely experienced any damage to her internal organs, aside from minor pains.

The same goes for thunder and other elements. And gradually she even developed an immunity against certain powers like fire, thunder, ice, and even psychic.

"Hey! Captain is using the thunder element, but why is the instructor still unscathed?" Someone murmured in confusion.

"Is it that the thunder element isn’t as harmful as it seems to other humans?" Others guessed.

The last question sparked the interest of soldiers; they turned toward Franklin, the other thunder element user.

Franklin wanted to test it too, and hence toward Arthur,

"I will experiment on you."

"What? But why me?" Arthur was baffled as to why he got dragged into this matter. He still hasn’t even inserted a single statement!

"You don’t know this, but Franklin has developed a little crush on our instructor." Maxwell patted Arthur’s back with sympathy. If it wasn’t for the fact that he was 5 years older than Ivy, he too would have expressed his admiration.

As Maxwell watched the beautiful woman with messy hair fighting Lucas, he felt his heart skip a beat.

"But even then, what does that even have to do with me?" Arthur asked with an irritated expression.

"You had spoken against our instructor so many times; he wants to earn back some interest." Maxwell explained.

Arthur: (ㆆ _ ㆆ) I was wrong, alright? Just spare me.

The next second, Arthur felt a sharp wave of thunder traveling in his body, and his body started to twitch, while his copper brown shoulder-length hair turned charred black and resembled a jackfruit’s jagged end.
