Chapter 205: Petty Martha

Chapter 205: Chapter 205: Petty Martha

"Hm." Felix agreed.

There was silence for a second or two before Felix proposed, "Should we check on the kids?"

"Hm." Alana’s eyes softened, the anxiety in her heart vanishing, replaced by tenderness.

What was the feeling of having something precious and losing it only to realize they haven’t lost it yet? Pure joy.

Once again, a beautiful young lady with cascading pink hair clouded her vision, and she softly whispered,

"Thank you, Ivy."

..............

Silvy base

The scorching heat from the sun greatly affected the citizens of Silvy Base. Some even had umbrellas covering them, yet the stifling heat waves still made them want to return to their homes.

They didn’t know whether it was their imagination or some kind of magical effect. They felt their own house was cool and comfortable to live in.

As the construction of solar panels was in full swing, Ivy, leading Silas inside the office, caught more than a few glances.

She was practically a celebrity among all the citizens. Out of all the people, after all, Ivy was the one who might have seen the real base leader.

Not to mention her prestige as an instructor, which made her a popular personality.

The soldiers saluted, while some civilians paused mid-step, their curiosity evident, but no one dared to disturb her.

Ivy’s calm expression, paired with Silas’s towering presence, made them seem untouchable.

The first thought that appeared in her mind was... registering the name.

Without delaying it any longer, she called Martha.

The next second, Ivy turned toward Silas and said softly, "I want to show you someone."

Silas raised his brows and nodded. "If that’s the case, then I am curious. Who is this person?"

Ivy thought of Martha, and unconsciously, gentleness appeared in her eyes.

"She is like a warm big sister to me. Even though she is just an assistant, she always looks after me. Her name is Martha."

Hearing those words, Silas’s eyes narrowed.

His gaze grew sharper, and the atmosphere seemed to change.

’Martha? The one who dared to say she wanted to sleep with Ivy?’

The temperature around the room suddenly dropped, causing Ivy to be confused.

She rubbed her arms in confusion.

"Strange... Why does it feel so cold? It’s not even winter. Outside the sun is burning, but here..."

Before she could finish, Silas pulled her into his arms, his voice low, "If you’re feeling cold, I can help you get warm."

Ivy quickly pushed him away, her cheeks turning crimson, but her voice came out professional.

"This is a base, Silas. We can’t flirt here. Be serious."

To showcase her commitment, she even created some distance.

Silas shook his head and sighed. "You really are like a scumbag sometimes."

Before Ivy could reply, there was a knock on the door.

"Come in," Ivy said.

The door opened with a creaking sound, and Martha walked in with a soft smile.

The moment her eyes landed on Ivy, her face brightened. "Miss Ivy."

God knows how worried she was when, yesterday, she suddenly received the news that Miss Ivy had taken a half-day.

Ivy smiled back, her eyes flashing with genuine mirth. "Martha."

But then Martha’s eyes shifted to Silas. She connected the dots in the story and reached a conclusion.

’So this is him... the man my boss was talking about. He is half not bad.’ Still, her face didn’t show much. She only kept her polite smile.

Silas, however, looked at her calmly, then leaned close to Ivy and even rested his head on her shoulder like a spoiled cat.

Ivy blinked, her cheeks warming, but before she could say anything, Martha twitched.

Her glasses slipped a little, and then she smirked.

"Oh? Miss Ivy, how is your friend doing now? Did she make up with that scumbag boyfriend of hers?" She dragged the word "scumbag," her eyes flicking at Silas.

Silas’s gaze turned icy.

His jaw tightened as if he wanted to silence Martha right there.

’This woman dares...’ But he stopped himself. He knew that this base was important to Ivy, but he was still unsure about Martha’s strength.

Ivy felt her face burn.

"Martha... that matter was already solved. The boyfriend only wanted to make his girlfriend understand something. That’s why he used that method."

Martha folded her arms and tilted her head.

"That is still manipulative. What does he even mean by hiring a substitute to scare her? Scumbag boyfriends like that deserve punishment."

She grinned slightly.

"If it were me, I’d ignore him for two weeks at least. Let him taste the feeling of being treated the same way he treated her."

Ivy froze. Her heart trembled. ’Ignore him for two weeks?’

But then her brows furrowed.

"Wait, Martha. You were the one who told me... I mean, who told my friend... to fix the relationship with the boyfriend by se...staying with him? Now you are saying she should ignore him?"

Martha shrugged with an innocent look.

"That was just the first step. I said to patch things up so the relationship would not break completely. But after patching up, it’s only fair to punish him. Let him feel the pain she felt. Otherwise, he will never learn his lesson. Isn’t that right, Instructor?"

Ivy’s eyes darkened. She lowered her gaze, deep in thought. ’Should I... really do that?’

Silas’s heart skipped. Panic flashed across his face, and he glared at Martha.

This woman was truly a trouble! He regretted even meeting her.

Martha calmly adjusted her spectacles, her voice still sweet.

"Sometimes, boyfriends think they can do whatever they want. But they need to be reminded that their girlfriends are not toys. They need to learn respect."

Silas clenched his fists. His voice was filled with slight frustration. "You talk too much."

Martha smiled, unbothered.

Inside, she thought coldly,

’Before, I gave that advice because she was too heartbroken. I wanted her to see the full picture. Now that I see what kind of man you are... I can say you love her. But your method... tsks... tsks... it hurt my boss too much. Did you think after hurting my boss you would remain unharmed? Dream on!’
