"Not really?"
Liang Yi's curiosity piqued as he pondered the situation. He only knew that he'd seemingly traveled here just by closing and opening his eyes; he had no clear idea what had happened in between.
In the anime and novels he'd seen in his past life, the methods of transmigration were bizarre and numerous—there were even oddities who managed to transmigrate by farting themselves to death, but very few accounts actually mentioned the process of transmigration.
"Your world... how should I put it? It's actually quite famous in the Endless Void."
Old Man Ju reminisced about that pale blue planet with a face filled with melancholy.
Even he, a recluse living on the very edges of the Void, had heard of its renown. One could imagine just how famous it must be.
"Huh? You're saying Earth is famous?"
Liang Yi was utterly baffled. Earth was famous? That was news to him.
"The specifics are hard to explain to you. Just know that the 'Heavenly Origin Land' known as Earth is famous throughout the Void, and that's all you need to know."
Old Man Ju scratched his head, thinking that Liang Yi would understand these things for himself as he grew older; there was no need for Old Man Ju to go into a lengthy explanation now.
"So what does Earth's fame have to do with my transmigration? Do you think Earthlings are exceptional just because I'm from Earth?"
Liang Yi still didn't quite understand the connection to his transmigration.
"It wasn't me who chose you, but the Heavenly Origin Land, or what you call Earth's Heavenly Dao that chose you. As for why it chose you, don't ask me—I didn't make the choice,"
Old Man Ju shrugged off the question, clearly growing impatient.
"There are invisible rules between worlds that generally prevent people from one world from living in another due to the rejection by the world itself. If your physical body came directly here, I reckon you wouldn't live past three seconds before getting struck dead by Heavenly Thunder."
"Then why am I fine now... Is it because of the part of my Divine Soul that you mentioned?"
Liang Yi was halfway through his question when he realized something. Old Man Ju had mentioned earlier that it was Old Man Ju, while still the Heavenly Dao, who brought a part of Liang Yi's Divine Soul to this world.
"You're not too slow on the uptake."
Old Man Ju looked at him approvingly; Liang Yi was correct.
"Rejection by the world is only a minor reason. Most importantly, if your entire Divine Soul had transmigrated directly, you'd be reborn in this world and become a native Cultivator of the Mystic Mechanism World."
"That way, I would be subject to the world's limitations and unable to break through to the Tenth Realm."
Liang Yi began to understand; Old Man Ju had gone to great lengths to circumvent this limitation.
"Right, so I brought over a part of your Divine Soul first to let it reincarnate in this world. Then, when the time was right, you came to merge with that part of your Divine Soul again in order to overwrite the original world's imprint."
Old Man Ju explained the process to Liang Yi bit by bit.
"So, the Liang Yis from both worlds are actually the same person; there's no need to fret over this. Plus, you might have noticed that memories from before your transmigration have been recovering. This isn't because you transmigrated and possessed this body, but because that part of your Divine Soul returned to your true self,"
Old Man Ju felt he had really gone out of his way, talking himself hoarse to help the young man untangle his doubts.
"Is that really how it is?"
What Old Man Ju just explained brought Liang Yi an epiphany, clearing away the mists of his concerns and fears that had all turned out to be non-existent.
About the Divine Soul, it's just like playing a game with two different accounts—one in this world and one in another.
"No wonder my memories of being a bit of a simpleton as a child make sense now; it only got better as I grew up. Turns out I traded intelligence for looks," Liang Yi suddenly understood, which perfectly aligned with his own memories.
And the reason he couldn't cultivate before transmigration was also due to his missing Divine Soul. Senior Gu Sheng was right in his diagnosis after all; it was just that the missing part of his Divine Soul wasn't in this world to begin with.
So Liang Yi could finally breathe a sigh of relief about his junior sister's issue. The part of the Divine Soul that split from him was entirely himself.
Neither Liang Yi from both worlds was complete, but now that they had merged back into one, the current him was truly whole.
