Chapter 94: Aria’s Choice

Chapter 94: Aria’s Choice

Clinging to a girl like this was never something I expected and it honestly makes me feel like an idiot. I don’t know why it does, maybe it is just a normal reaction.

Either way I feel like I’m calming down a bit so it’s time to focus back on the important task at hand. She said she needs time before giving an answer on joining us.

"Thank you. I.. uh know we aren’t that close yet but it was kind of nice to talk about that for once." I say while moving away from her slowly.

She smelled nice and honestly all these hugs I’ve gotten lately have felt real nice...

"You’re welcome. I think I’ll make my choice today. Let’s go back inside for now." Aria replies while standing up and wiping her pants off.

There wasn’t much else said, we just made our way back inside and through the hallway for a bit. It was a peaceful walk, I could tell that Aria was thinking on everything for the time being.

Getting the answer today will help with planning how to go about the rest of our trip up here.

Rika is also just gone for now as well which is still kind of bugging me. I don’t really understand why she’d go quiet on me but maybe something is going on.

That space she resides in could be going through some kind of change or maybe she is visiting someone? That other lady Seraphine shows up in there sometimes so it is a possibility.

"Here we are, I’ll come back to tell you my decision in a little bit." Aria says with a small smile across her face.

Everyone has been so damn happy here... Am I like that usually too? At least she’s cute and has been pretty supportive so far.

"I’ll be here, but do you think either of your brothers will be stopping by?" I ask with a bit of curiosity.

"Sylas might but Alarion already paid us a visit so probably not again today." Aria answers before turning away from me.

"Thanks Aria. I’ll see you later then." I say with a polite tone before opening the door.

I open the door to the sight of Ghost and Lilly sitting on the bed talking. Very lucky to be accompanied by such beautiful girls. It would probably be wise of me to show them some appreciation a bit more.

"Rokuro really does like to leave us randomly." Lilly says with a bit of disappointment in her voice.

"He gets a lot of stuff done for us so I don’t really mind it." Ghost replies before turning to look towards the door.

I give a small wave. "Yo, I’m back." I speak with a casual tone as I close the door behind me.

Lilly seems to have a flustered look on her face but it doesn’t stop her from standing up. "Maybe a heads up that you’re leaving would be nice..." Lilly responds with a bit of frustration.

I go over and give her a hug without any hesitation. "I’ll work on doing better with my communication. Just keep doing a great job with watching over Ghost when I do have to step away." I say while hugging her with a positive tone in my voice.

She’s just been a bit worried lately which is understandable since we’ve been traveling together for awhile now. Ghost hasn’t shown it as much as her lately but I blame that on her being a cyborg.

Ghost still hasn’t gotten any of her memories back though, that’s kind of a big issue. Her memory core is working and functional so I’m not sure what is happening.

"Rokuro. Can we talk privately?" Ghost asks softly as she stares at me with a worried expression.

"Of course." I respond without any hesitation.

I finish up with Lilly before going outside the room with Ghost. I bring her to the beautiful courtyard area that Aria brought me to before since it felt like a good place to talk.

The sun was still shining brightly on us as well so it was a great place to talk or clear your head.

"Lately this strange feeling has been forming in my chest and I can’t figure out what it is. Last time you checked me, everything was fine so I don’t know what is happening." Ghost explains with a bit of concern in her voice.

"Could you tell me a bit more about this feeling?" I ask with more of a serious tone before sitting down on the bench.

She sits down next to me and looks up at the sky. "It feels like something is tearing through my chest over and over again." Ghost responds while gripping her chest.

That is definitely odd, I haven’t seen any noticeable issues when running diagnostic tests on her. I don’t think anything else could be causing it, unless something is popping up now.

Did I miss something? No, that isn’t like me to miss something while checking such an important test.

I can hear the sound of footsteps slowly coming down the steps behind me. "This pain really feels like you’re being torn through over and over again?" Aria asks with a serious expression and a concerned tone.

"Yes..." Ghost answers.

Aria just left me a little bit ago so I didn’t expect her to be back already... Not a lot of time has passed since we walked back to the room.

"I can’t believe it myself just yet... But you might be awakening." Aria says with a bit of confusion in her voice as she looks at Ghost.

Cyborgs never had the possibility of awakening so why is she suddenly experiencing this? Were they wrong about it from the beginning... Or did they just choose to ignore it.

If cyborgs can awaken, then the battle we’ve been fighting can change for the better.

"Me. There’s no way I’m awakening." Ghost replies in disbelief.

"It is hard to believe, trust me. I’ll also be joining you after all Rokuro." Aria says while shifting her gaze towards me.
