Chapter 8 An Unexpected Delight

Lin Xiang looked with amusement at the trembling dwarf demon, who trembled even more violently, his green hat adorned with a four-leaf clover falling off.

The rowdy evil gods in the bar instantly fell silent, glancing covertly towards the bar, speculating about the origin of this goddess who had caused the dwarf demon to lose his composure.

The dwarf demon grabbed the handrail on the bar and stood up with difficulty, timidly presenting the drink list, "W-welcome, honored goddess~~~"

Lin Xiang glanced at the strangely named drinks and uninterestingly moved her eyes away, "A glass of clear water, immediately!"

The dwarf demon, relieved, swung his short legs and ran quickly to the back kitchen. Lin Xiang's attention was now captured by the various evil gods in the bar. After looking around, she didn't find the white-clothed Eurona, but instead saw figures from various horror stories.

A scarecrow in tattered clothes held a rusty sickle, still bearing dried bloodstains; Frankenstein's monster with mended patches all over his body; a fanged werewolf and vampire; and even various deformed, unidentifiable things, for which Lin Xiang could find no words to describe them, as they didn't even have human form!

Most of these evil gods had not existed for long, some even without any followers, relying solely on the records passed down in the world to gain faith; most of them were already very weak, perhaps even a minor deity of a local god could easily deal with them.

A dark-skinned man sat down beside Lin Xiang and smiled, raising his glass to signal her. His white teeth stood out strikingly against his dark skin.

"Goddess of Misfortune, where do you come from?" The man took out a pair of single-framed glasses and put them on, looking particularly gentlemanly in his black tuxedo.

Lin Xiang frowned. This was a death god, and a powerful one at that. The threads of faith on him were more numerous than hers, clearly indicating that many people worshipped this death god.

Fortunately, this death god's power was only of the minor deity level, not reaching the level of intermediate deity. Lin Xiang felt he was a trouble that would require significant effort to resolve, but not a difficult problem.

"Get lost! The stench from you makes me sick."

The smile on the man's face faltered, and the wine glass in his hand shattered with a crash, spilling crimson liquid all over the bar.

"Allow me to introduce myself." The man removed his top hat and bowed slightly, "Baron Samedi, Baron of Saturday."

This death god hailed from Voodoo, and the infamous zombies originated from this Baron of Saturday, which explained why he still retained a considerable number of followers.

"The nauseating smell on you comes from reanimated corpses, doesn't it! I'll say it again! Get lost!" Lin Xiang's expression grew more impatient. Her divine power of misfortune spread like black mist onto the bar.

Baron Samedi, as a death god, did not back down. Zombies emitting a foul odor crawled out from the shadowy corners, surrounding Lin Xiang.

The wooden floor suddenly decayed, and the entangled zombies fell through the openings, creating a chaotic mess. Before these rotting corpses could stand up again, the water gushing from their abdomens inflated them into spheres. The compressed water then exploded, instantly tearing the corpses to shreds.

Baron Samedi waved and threw out a black snake. The remains of the zombies were attracted to the black snake, wriggling and converging on it to form a tall, dark humanoid figure.

Lin Xiang keenly sensed an eye watching them from above, likely the bar's owner, Balor. She had a plan. Taking the clear water delivered by the dwarf demon, she poured it at her feet. A phantom world filled with blooming flowers spread out, purifying all the filth.

The power of the Voodoo death god was swept away like a broken dam. The humanoid figure, devoid of divine power, collapsed instantly.

Seeing the situation turn unfavorable, the evil gods in the bar fled one after another. Baron Samedi was also forced back two steps by the white light that accompanied the flowers. Under the influence of misfortune, the bar's sprinklers suddenly activated, and fine water droplets landed on Baron Samedi's face, emitting a puff of smoke.

The Baron cried out in pain, his black tuxedo transforming into a cloak to block the falling water droplets. This also enraged Baron Samedi, who recalled the black snake, which transformed into a staff. Black smoke billowed from his eyes, revealing the true form of the death god.

The Baron waved the staff, which had transformed from the black snake, and chanted incantations, clearly having decided to fight seriously.

Lin Xiang's gaze was sharp. She stood up and stomped forcefully. The pipes buried underground cracked, and water surged out like a fountain from the fissures, immediately turning the bar into a waterlogged area.

Seeing that the two deities were about to go all out, the evil-eyed Balor finally intervened to stop them.

"Mistress of Avalon Lake, your arrival brings glory to my domain," Balor said, laughing as he walked down the stairs. "But are you the Lady of the Lake, or the Siren of the Lake at this moment?"

"Balor, King of the Fomorians, the Evil-Eyed," Lin Xiang turned around unhurriedly. "I have come to find a drowned ghost."

The moment Balor appeared, Baron Samedi ceased all his actions. Seeing that Lin Xiang and Balor seemed to be acquaintances, he dared not linger for another second, transforming into a black smoke and swiftly slipping away.

The giant and the dwarf demon also left at Balor's signal. Only the two deities remained in the chaotic bar.

Balor raised an eyebrow in surprise, "You are looking for Gisele?"

Lin Xiang's heart stirred. This was truly a lucky coincidence. Without clarifying, she said, "She was wearing a white dress, and her hair was dripping water."

Both Gisele, the Ghost in the Mist, and Eurona, the Drowned Ghost, fit this description. Balor, having made a prior assumption, scratched his head with some difficulty. "Noble and wicked goddess, has Gisele offended your majesty?"

"I don't need to explain this to you. Hand her over!" Balor seemed to know something about Gisele's disappearance, and Lin Xiang instantly had a guess.

Hearing Lin Xiang's tone, Balor subconsciously assumed that Gisele had accidentally offended this vengeful goddess and carelessly revealed Gisele's whereabouts, "She was taken away by the native gods to the south."

Lin Xiang calmly pressed, "How long have they been gone?"

"They left on Halloween."

Halloween? Today is the Lantern Festival, which means Gisele has been missing for two months.

Lin Xiang deliberately showed some hostility on her face, "Are you harboring her? She took my witch apprentice two hours ago!"

"I understand now, you are looking for Eurona," Balor said with relief. "I don't know her whereabouts. She arrived with the native gods on Halloween, and I heard she lured away many deities' followers."

"Baron Samedi also came here for his missing followers. Perhaps you can ask the Voodoo deities."
