The workflow of Purgatory amazed Hypnos, and after communicating with his mother, Nyx, the Goddess of Night, descended with her avatar.
Nyx's radiant eyes held a deep pool of autumn water, and her loose black robe did not diminish her beauty.
Tyche led the Goddess of Night to the riverbank, and Styx, the goddess of fate, quietly surfaced. Tyche scooped up a handful of river water, "Your Highness Nyx, please observe."
The once ordinary river water possessed a special magic due to Styx's presence. Souls could see things etched in their memories, things they could not let go of, on the surface of the water. If they could not find peace with the regrets in their lives, their souls would be trapped, unable to depart.
The Goddess of Night, with great interest, approached the riverbank. Looking at the chaotic reflection, she chuckled, "A very ingenious design, Tyche. Your promotion from a demigoddess Nymph to a powerful deity is indeed undeniable."
She then turned to Tyche and softly asked, "What do I need to do?"
Tyche opened a tributary and calmly faced the Goddess of Night, "Styx can eliminate the obsessions of souls, but the speed at which she draws emotional power from them is too slow. Therefore, I hope you can station your avatar here and display your divine power of forgetting everything."
Mnemosyne, the goddess of memory, was originally the most suitable candidate, as her divine power could erase memories. However, what made Tyche's task difficult was Mnemosyne's leaning towards Gaea, the Earth Mother. If Mnemosyne were to report to Gaea, with Gaea's wisdom, she would immediately understand Tyche's purpose.
The Goddess of Night, however, was different. This primordial goddess possessed the divine office of oblivion, which could serve the same purpose. Coupled with the extracted emotional power as compensation, the nascent Underworld would have security.
Nyx naturally did not refuse. This goddess even brought her husband, Erebus, the god of darkness!
The progress of this god of darkness's personification was significantly slower than his wife's. In Tyche's opinion, perhaps even Tartarus was slightly superior to him.
The muddled god of darkness's eyes were vacant, only reacting when his wife approached. Nyx took her husband's hand and together they walked into the newly formed river. The clear river water gradually turned a deep, dark black, infused with the essence of darkness.
The River of Obsession and the River of Oblivion encircled the Underworld. Souls that waded through, after being drained by the two goddesses, arrived at Purgatory, greatly accelerating the purification of souls.
Tyche felt a sense of relief. With the combined efforts of the three primordial gods, even the Earth Mother would not dare to act rashly. The goddess sincerely hoped that Gaea would turn a blind eye and not escalate the conflict. The Abyss and the Night would never easily give up this shortcut to quickly obtain emotional power, and a war of primordial gods would erupt.
Styx quietly approached and handed Tyche a golden vial. Inside was solidified emotional power. For primordial gods other than Gaea, these emotions were hard currency.
The goddess of fate smiled confidently, "Alright, don't worry. We have already pulled three primordial gods onto our chariot. The emergence of the Underworld is unstoppable, and the three vested interests will not allow anyone to tamper with their cake."
Tyche, however, was not as confident as Styx, "Now, the only variable outside our plan is the primordial god of love, Eros! Soon, I will need to meet the goddess of love and beauty. The emotions you have collected can serve as a stepping stone. I hope this god of love does not refuse me entry."
Returning to the Isle of the Formless, Tyche saw Kanna and Zeus playing on the sea from afar, with the Erinyes carefully watching nearby.
Tyche did not disturb her sons' game and landed beside the three Erinyes.
The goddesses respectfully saluted their chief deity. Tyche smiled and told them to rise, "Alecto, Megaera, Tisiphone."
The three Erinyes respectfully responded to their chief deity's call, "We await your command."
Tyche took out the divine offices of torment, affliction, and punishment that were bestowed by the laws when Purgatory was established. Unlike the neutral and unbiased divine office of Purgatory, these three divine offices emitted a scarlet glow. Deities who saw them seemed to hear the screams of living beings. This was truly unbearable for Tyche. They were not useless; at least they could be easily maintained at the level of minor deities. Not liking them, Tyche immediately thought of three subordinate deities of weak divine power.
The Erinyes were indeed well-suited to the attributes of these divine offices. Thinking that the Silver Humans would be exterminated and the Bronze Humans would experience explosive population growth, the three goddesses, who had sworn loyalty to her by the Styx, finally had a purpose.
The children of the Goddess of Night could not refuse Tyche's arrangements for personnel with management rights, but the goddesses' divine power levels were too low, and being underestimated was inevitable.
"Daughters of Uranus, Erinyes of vengeance! You have faithfully served me, and this is your deserved reward."
Overjoyed, the Erinyes accepted the divine offices bestowed by their chief deity and, at Tyche's instruction, retreated with light steps. The goddess looked at her sons playing on the sea in the distance and had a fleeting illusion of her own aging. Dispelling the sudden surge of sadness in her mind, Tyche softly called out to her sons.
Kanna, driving a small tsunami, carried his slightly older brother. The golden-haired Zeus laughed joyfully, urging his brother to go faster.
Hearing their mother's call, the two brothers shook off the seawater and came to the beach. The wind god's gaze was immediately drawn to the divine office of earthquake in his mother's hand.
Kanna took the divine office from his mother and joyfully placed it into his divine fire. The divine office of disaster trembled incessantly, eagerly seeking completion.
"My child, the promotion to powerful deity is not as easy as you imagine," the goddess advised earnestly. "My successful promotion was because the world needed the crystalline wall, and the Sun God's success also benefited from the ecliptic, which divided time into boundaries."
"What help you can bring to the world and the laws is the key to advancing to powerful deity!"
Tyche then looked down at Zeus. The young deity's brown eyes, identical to his mother's, spun as he did not quite understand his mother's solemn advice and warning.
The divine office of thunder had considerable potential. There were no obstacles in his advancement to intermediate deity, and even powerful deity was somewhat hopeful. Zeus, not yet an adult, was already at the limit of weak deity and was expected to advance to intermediate deity before adulthood.
Tyche did not want to show favoritism. As the goddess's thoughts turned, she split the divine office of sky into the divine offices of clouds and rain. The emergence of the divine office of climate, integrated with the divine offices of sky, wind, and thunder, stimulated the origin of the sky multiple times. The appearance of the crystalline wall further tilted more resources from the laws towards the sky.
Tyche had a vague premonition that she might soon catch up with Rhea and Phoebe.
The world could only bear a limited number of primordial gods. The stronger the origin, the more primordial gods there could be. Tyche could not ignore the merits and laws of the world. The just and impartial laws would crown Tyche after accumulating sufficient origin, bestowing upon her the reward she deserved.
