Chapter 9 The Beautiful Constable, I am Here to Repay Kindness

A young female police officer, a hot-tempered and justice-driven cop, Chen Jiuyang owed her a debt of gratitude. He discovered she was in trouble. It was she who had provided evidence for him back then; otherwise, relying solely on himself, he wouldn't have been able to reduce his father's death sentence to fifty years.

He left the Yao family.

Chen Jiuyang arrived at the Six Doors.

Twenty years ago, the Dragon Kingdom underwent reforms, merging the police, public security, and armed police departments into the Six Doors, directly controlled by the central government of the Dragon Kingdom.

Returning to the Six Doors, Chen Jiuyang's eyes revealed a sense of emotion. A year ago, although his father was arrested and imprisoned by the Six Doors, he was initially sentenced to death.

However, a police inspector and constable had helped him greatly, ultimately reducing his father's death sentence to fifty years in prison.

Today, he was here to repay that kindness in person.

The entrance of the Six Doors was filled with police cars, and people in police uniforms were coming and going.

Arriving at the front desk, Chen Jiuyang said, "Hello, I'm looking for Constable Ji Lengyue."

The receptionist replied, "Officer Ji Lengyue was transferred to a police station downstairs six months ago."

Chen Jiuyang frowned slightly, "May I ask which police station?"

"The police station in the red-light district."

"Thank you," Chen Jiuyang turned and walked out of the Six Doors.

Ji Lengyue's father was an anti-drug police officer, and her mother was a martyr. Her background was pure and upright. She was admitted into the Six Doors at the age of sixteen due to her performance in a martial arts competition. She was the same age as Chen Jiuyang but was intelligent, hated evil, and was a star within the Six Doors.

A year ago, she was a captain in the main unit of the Six Doors; how could she have been transferred to a police station in the red-light district?

The red-light district could only be described as chaotic, the most dangerous place in Fengcheng, and even Feng Province.

In this area, brawls and fights were commonplace, and it was also a haven for wanted fugitives. The casualty rate for constables in the red-light district remained high every year.

As a child, Zhang Xiuzhen used the name of the red-light district to scare Chen Jiuyang into stopping his crying.

If not for his own strength, Chen Jiuyang would not have dared to set foot here.

Entering the red-light district, there were tall buildings, but mostly dilapidated houses. People with tattoos were everywhere on the streets.

At a street corner, Chen Jiuyang spotted the figure.

She wore a dark blue police uniform, had delicate and fair features, a cold demeanor, and wore a hat. Black stockings encased her delicate, straight legs, and she wore low-heeled leather shoes. A police baton was clipped to her waist.

Chen Jiuyang prepared to follow and greet Ji Lengyue, but then he saw that as Ji Lengyue was patrolling the street, four tattooed men surrounded her.

Ji Lengyue's voice was clear and cold, "Move aside, don't block my patrol!"

There were too many disturbances in the red-light district, requiring every constable assigned there to patrol the streets constantly.

The leading big man sized up the alluring Ji Lengyue with a greedy gaze and a wicked grin, "Constable Ji, if I block your patrol, what can you do to me?"

As he spoke, the four big men leered and advanced.

Ji Lengyue's face turned frosty, "If you obstruct my official duties, then don't blame me for being impolite!"

She directly drew the police baton from her waist and swung it forward. Ji Lengyue expected them to resist, but to her surprise, the man did not dodge. He took a blow from Ji Lengyue's baton and then lay on the ground, screaming, "The constable is hitting people! Help!"

People immediately gathered around. Ji Lengyue frowned, took out her police pager, and prepared to call for backup, but it was snatched away by a thug.

Although Ji Lengyue was skilled, she couldn't possibly deal with so many people. A flicker of panic flashed in her eyes, and she said coldly, "You dare to cause trouble!?"

"Constable Ji, you were the one who initiated the trouble. Everyone saw it clearly. You severely injured my brother with one blow. What do you say we do about it?"

"That's right, are you special just because you're a constable? Are you allowed to hit us ordinary citizens as you please?"

Ji Lengyue's brows furrowed, feeling extremely annoyed. Although her name was Ji Lengyue, she hated evil and had a fiery temper. Just as she was unsure how to handle the situation, a young man's voice rang out:

"Someone is seriously injured? Where? I'm a doctor, move aside, let me take a look."

Ji Lengyue saw the crowd surrounding them being easily parted, and a young man walked in. He approached the thug on the ground and lightly tapped him. The thug immediately turned red in the face and stood up, showing no signs of serious injury.

Chen Jiuyang smiled, "This body is very healthy. Where is the injury? Everyone disperse."

"Tricky customer, let's go." The leading thug glared at Chen Jiuyang with unfriendly eyes, then led his men away. The crowd immediately dispersed.

Chen Jiuyang picked up the police pager from the ground and handed it to Ji Lengyue, "Constable Ji, are you alright?"

Ji Lengyue's eyes widened in surprise, "It's you! You're alright?"

Chen Jiuyang chuckled wryly. Ji Lengyue was good in every way, except that she was a bit too impulsive and didn't think before speaking or acting.

"I made progress on your father's case six months ago. I went to find you at the university, but I heard about you falling off a cliff," Ji Lengyue said bluntly.

Chen Jiuyang's eyes flickered, then he bowed respectfully to her, a sincere bow, and said, "Constable Ji, thank you! If it weren't for you, my father wouldn't have had his death sentence commuted to imprisonment."

"You're welcome. I'm a constable; it's my duty to investigate cases and uncover the truth," Ji Lengyue patted her chest, her blouse swaying, which made Chen Jiuyang a little dazed.

Chen Jiuyang felt a bit dry-mouthed and said seriously, "Constable Ji, tell me about the progress on my father's case."

Ji Lengyue's expression turned solemn, "I suspect the victim's family was bribed, which is why they came forward a year ago to identify your father as the driver who killed their family member."

A hint of killing intent flashed in Chen Jiuyang's eyes, and he said calmly, "Constable Ji, please continue."

"Alas..." Ji Lengyue sighed, "But I have no evidence. Just as I was about to investigate the victim's family, I was transferred to the police station in the red-light district, and the matter made no further progress."

Chen Jiuyang then understood and felt a surge of respect in his heart. He said guiltily, "Constable Ji, I'm sorry, I caused you to be demoted."

Ji Lengyue had no connection to him, yet she was demoted and transferred to the red-light district as a street patrol constable for his case.

Like the thugs who surrounded her earlier, wanting to bully her, it was likely not the first time. And those thugs were probably instigated by someone, deliberately causing trouble for Ji Lengyue.

Ji Lengyue waved her hand indifferently, "I became a constable not for promotion or wealth. You don't need to say that."

Chen Jiuyang promised, "Constable Ji, don't worry, I will definitely help you regain your original position, and even advance further!"

Ji Lengyue looked at him with a frown. Before she could ask why, Chen Jiuyang received a call from his sister, Chen Yating, at home. Her voice was anxious:

"Brother, the village secretary and his men are at our house again. Hurry back!"

Chen Jiuyang's expression turned cold. He had no choice but to hastily bid farewell to Ji Lengyue and quickly find a car to rush home.
