Chapter 19 Resolving Jiang Lan

Ye Jinghuai listened to Nuannuan’s words, his heart aching with a deep, pervasive pain he hadn’t felt when he first saw her yesterday.

Thinking back to her disheveled appearance in worn clothes, he blamed himself for not discovering her sooner.

“Nuannuan, I’m sorry. Dad didn’t know about you earlier. You’ve suffered,” he said, his eyes brimming with concern.

He then recalled Nuannuan’s frail frame, how light she was as a piece of paper when he held her, and his heart ached anew.

“Papa~ Nuannuan didn’t suffer, Nuannuan likes eating meat.”

“Alright, eat whatever you want from now on.” The father resolved to raise his daughter to be plump and rosy, diligently placing more meat onto Nuannuan’s plate.

He overfed her unintentionally, and Nuannuan became too full.

“Papa~ my tummy feels like it’s going to burst.” Nuannuan touched her round belly, lying on the seat.

Ye Jinghuai guiltily reached out to rub her stomach.

“It’s my fault for letting you eat too much.”

“Papa, Nuannuan likes you too, it’s just that my tummy is too small.” Nuannuan replied listlessly.

“It’s okay, if you can’t eat it all at once, we’ll just eat two meals.”

“That’s right~” Nuannuan’s eyes lit up.

“Let’s go, we’ll head back first, and Dad will rub your tummy again.” He then reached out and picked up the little dumpling.

“Mhm~” her childlike voice echoed in the air.

Upon returning to the company, Ye Jinghuai continued to rub Nuannuan’s stomach. Seeing she was still unwell, he assumed she was tired. He carried her into the resting room, placed her on the bed, and tucked her in.

A short while later, Ye Jinghuai, who was working outside, thought he heard movement from the room and, assuming Nuannuan had woken up, hurried to check.

However, the scene that greeted him upon opening the door nearly scared his soul away.

He saw the little dumpling sprawled on the floor, her arms and legs covered in red blotches. A puddle of vomit lay on the ground, and she was unconscious.

“Nuannuan!” Ye Jinghuai felt his legs go weak.

Taking a deep breath, he rushed forward, scooped up the child, and bolted outside.

The secretaries outside had never seen their CEO in such a state. They poked their heads out, curious, and saw the president holding the young lady.

Could the young lady be sick? They all worried, thinking how could the little darling be ill!

“Boss!” Han Rui saw them and quickly caught up to Ye Jinghuai, his heart also filled with concern for Nuannuan.

“You drive, quickly!” Ye Jinghuai’s hands were trembling.

“Nuannuan, Nuannuan, don’t scare Papa, it’s my fault for not realizing you were unwell sooner. Nuannuan, wake up.” Ye Jinghuai tried to rouse his daughter the entire way.

“Boss! Calm down, you must not panic now, Miss Nuannuan will be alright.” Han Rui, driving ahead, had red-rimmed eyes and the accelerator pressed to the floor.

They ran several red lights before finally reaching the private hospital affiliated with the Ye Corporation.

“Get your院长 here! Immediately!” Ye Jinghuai stormed into the hospital with an imposing aura that startled everyone.

Someone recognized Ye Jinghuai and rushed to call the director. They then led him to the emergency room for initial treatment.

Five minutes later, the director arrived, panting.

“Second Young Master!”

“Hurry and check my daughter, she vomited earlier.” Ye Jinghuai cut the director off, his heart filled with anxiety.

The director nervously began examining Nuannuan, fearing any adverse outcome that might lead to his own misfortune.

“Second Young Master, the little miss is just allergic. Children are frail, so her reaction was severe. Fortunately, she has already vomited. After an IV drip, she should be fine after one night of observation.”

The director breathed a sigh of relief after the examination.

“What is she allergic to?” Ye Jinghuai’s expression was grim.

“Do you know what the little miss ate before coming?”

Ye Jinghuai tried to recall. The lunch consisted of the same dishes she had eaten at home yesterday. If she were allergic, she would have reacted yesterday.

Suddenly, a thought flashed through his mind.

“Mango milk!”

“Then it’s likely a mango allergy. I can perform another test later to confirm.”

After some time, the director returned.

“Second Young Master, it is indeed mango. Now that we know, it’s fine. Just avoid it in the future.”

“Yes, I understand.” Ye Jinghuai’s complexion finally eased slightly. He looked at Nuannuan on the hospital bed, filled with self-recrimination.

“Han Rui,” he suddenly said.

“Boss?”

“Yamei Airlines, the flight attendant who spoke to us on the plane last time, I don’t want to see her in the capital again.”

Ye Jinghuai knew the incident was a coincidence, and in fact, he should have been grateful. However, Jiang Lan was not a good person and had no good intentions. Letting her leave was already his show of magnanimity.

“Understood, Boss.”

Han Rui understood that if Ye Jinghuai brought this up now, Miss Nuannuan’s allergy was likely related to her. And Ye Jinghuai only sending her away indicated it wasn’t a direct cause.

Half an hour later, Han Rui entered again, informing Ye Jinghuai that the matter was handled.

Meanwhile, Jiang Lan received a company transfer order, relocating her to H City, the furthest city from the capital.

Initially unwilling, she considered arguing the decision. However, when the company specified it was ordered by Second Young Master Ye and that she was not to appear in the capital again, Jiang Lan understood everything.

She collapsed onto the bed and began to cry, but dared not disobey. At least her job was still secure. As long as she could still fly first class, she could find another target later. No! She would change her target now.

Unbeknownst to Nuannuan, her father had already dealt with the first female protagonist of the plot.
