Chapter 6 Practical Exercises

After Nan Shanzi removed the sinister influence from Wang Hu, it was already nine in the morning. After requesting leave from Teacher Hu, Nan Shanzi said to Mo Chuan, "Young friend, would you mind discussing a few things with this humble Taoist?"

Seeing Mo Chuan's obvious hesitation, Nan Shanzi smiled and said, "Rest assured, although this Taoist dislikes ghost cultivators, I can distinguish right from wrong. Despite my hostility towards you, your actions last night have proven your pure and kind nature. Therefore, I merely wish to discuss your special abilities with you."

"...Does the Daoist have any guidance to offer?"

"Your talent in the ghost path is something few can rival. However, I also fear that you might be led astray by spirits or other malevolent ghost cultivators. Therefore, I wish to recommend a righteous person in the ghost path, how about it?"

"Of course, thank you, Daoist!" Mo Chuan was very excited. He knew that relying solely on himself and the system would make it difficult to become a professional ability user in a short period, and guidance from a professional was key. He had originally planned to ask Principal Liu or wait until after the special recruitment exam, but he never expected the old Taoist in front of him to help him.

"Good... This person happens to be in Jibei now, you can go look for him. At the Hui Guan Temple in Jibei, look for Duoimen Qinglianzi, and tell him Nan Shanzi of Zhenmen sent you." After speaking, Nan Shanzi pondered for a moment, then took out a talisman from his robe and said, "You can use this as a token. Qinglianzi will understand your intentions upon seeing it."

Mo Chuan accepted the talisman, planning to visit when he had time. After everything was concluded, he entered the restroom to check his combat record:

"Used [Death Judgment] on [Resentful Ghost Infant], dealing 164 magic damage.

Performed normal attack on [Resentful Ghost Infant], dealing 50 physical damage.

You defeated [Resentful Ghost Infant], gaining 15 experience.

You leveled up to level three and unlocked the skill [Pendulum of Misfortune].

[Curse of Hell] stacks: 203"

"Looks like that little ghost was quite strong. It gave three souls at once, and even the female ghost only gave two."

Mo Chuan happily rode his electric scooter back to school before the lunch break began.

In the afternoon, Principal Liu summoned the five individuals to his office again.

"I've called you here to discuss your future arrangements. Because your results were all outstanding, you will now have five days a week for the school's professional teachers to conduct physical training and combat training, to ensure you achieve excellent results in individual and team examinations."

"However, considering your different roles, the standards I've set for you are also different, but I still hope you will not take it lightly."

"Alright, you can report to the combat arena. Today, we'll just have a trial run, and then the formal practice will begin."

Led by Secretary Huang, the five arrived at the combat arena.

The combat arena was not large, only about three-quarters the size of a gymnasium. The area closest to the entrance housed various fitness equipment, martial arts tools, training dummies, targets, and so on, while the inner part contained a massive battle stage.

Secretary Huang led the five to the stage and called out, "Teacher Su, I've brought the students."

A beam of light appeared from the ground, and a tall, purple-haired woman in a black professional suit emerged. She adjusted her black-rimmed glasses and said, "Thank you, Secretary Huang. You may leave if there's nothing else."

Secretary Huang looked at the new combat teacher speechlessly. She was quite pretty, but why did she have such a cold demeanor? It was almost like an indifferent tone.

"Th-that's all, Teacher Su, you may proceed."

After Secretary Huang turned and left, Su Li's gaze fell upon the five individuals, and she slowly said, "I've reviewed all your profiles. Here are the school's arrangements for you: Zhang Hanshan will serve as the Guardian; Tang Jingjing will be the primary physical attacker; He Lanxin will be the breakthrough attacker; Mo Fei will be the primary magic attacker; and Mo Chuan will be the team support."

She scanned their reactions and continued, "I will select the captain later. For now, you will go one by one, and I will assess your strength."

Then, Su Li's gaze fell on He Lanxin. "He Lanxin, as the breakthrough attacker, you will go first."

After the others exited the stage and the stage barrier was activated, He Lanxin exhaled deeply, clenched her right fist, and summoned a gleaming golden halberd. She then swung the halberd, pointing its tip towards Su Li.

"Teacher Su, I will attack."

After giving her warning, He Lanxin immediately exerted force with her legs and charged towards Su Li.

Mo Chuan watched He Lanxin wield the halberd with ease and curiously asked, "Hanshan, is she from a martial arts family?"

"No."

"Then why is she so proficient with the halberd? It doesn't look like her first time using it."

"Many people learn some martial arts or train their bodies before their awakening to adapt to their abilities. For me, I practiced the 'Tong Zi Gong' when I was young. So, He Lanxin must have practiced martial arts like spear or halberd techniques, which happened to align with her abilities."

"Oh..." Mo Chuan recalled that the original owner of this body had undergone training when he was young, but after his parents sacrificed themselves, he had lost touch with it.

Bang!

Mo Chuan, who was lost in thought, was suddenly drawn back by a sound from the stage. He saw that Teacher Su had a folding fan appear in her hand at some point. With a wave of the fan, many purple-black fireballs appeared in the air and attacked He Lanxin.

As the fireballs increased, He Lanxin gradually struggled to cope and was eventually thrown off the stage, heavily injured.

"Next, Zhang Hanshan."

"Ah, this... Brother Chuan, when I fall later, you must remember to catch me..."

"Good luck. He Lanxin even forced Teacher Su to use her abilities. I doubt Teacher Su will need to use her abilities against your turtle-transformed ability."

"Brother Chuan, I think what you said is a bit hurtful."

"Stop being melodramatic and get up there!"

Mo Chuan urged Zhang Hanshan onto the stage and began to observe Teacher Su's attack patterns.

Teacher Su's combat style involved testing with physical techniques first. If the opponent's strength was sufficient, she would then use her abilities for a second round of attack.

Although Zhang Hanshan claimed to have practiced Tong Zi Gong, his combat power was not comparable to He Lanxin's. Within a few minutes, Teacher Su, without even using her abilities, had beaten Zhang Hanshan, who had activated [Immovable Body], black and blue.

Mo Chuan swallowed and said, "Teacher Su practices leg techniques... Her legs... they are so white, no, so long! Her attack range is longer than that of an ordinary person..."

Mo Fei retracted her dangerous gaze and continued to lean on Mo Chuan, observing (watching) the battle (spectating).

Finally, in less than fifteen minutes, Comrade Zhang Hanshan "gloriously" exited the stage (was forced out).

"Next, Tang Jingjing."

Tang Jingjing, who focused on hidden weapons, was not even as good as Zhang Hanshan. Although she managed to force Teacher Su to use her abilities once, ten minutes later, Tang Jingjing, her spiritual energy depleted, walked off the stage herself.

"Mo Fei."

Mo Chuan patted Mo Fei's head, as if to encourage her.

Mo Fei pushed Mo Chuan's hand away with her head, puffed out her cheeks, smoothed her ruffled hair, and then summoned her Chengying sword before walking onto the stage.

Although Mo Fei's combat power was formidable with the enhancement of the Chengying sword, her physical fitness was not high. Teacher Su also did not use her abilities, and within ten minutes, she had defeated Mo Fei and made her exit the stage.

"Mo Chuan, it's your turn."
